Patricia’s Front Row Experience: “Jersey Boys” on Broadway
Patricia Smith is a classy lady who loves to stay active. She enjoy golfing, skiing, piano lessons, playing bridge, going to the gym, keeping track of her 5 children, being there for her husband of over 50 years and taking her grandchildren on special outings, going to the theatre, concerts or recitals performed by one of her 12 grandchildren, traveling and reading.
When Patricia was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma in the summer of 2011 it hit everyone by surprise. Although she struggled, as does anyone faced with this reality, she chose to move forward and battle the illness everyday.
In September 2011 Patricia’s family applied her to be a recipient of a Front Row Experience. Patricia has always been a huge fan of musicals and is a season ticket holder at the Royal Alexander in Toronto. Patricia always said “it’s great but certainly not the same as seeing the show on Broadway in New York City.”
The Front Row thought it would be perfect to send Patricia and her husband to New York City after her last treatment. Once Patricia’s family was informed this experience would become a reality they were thrilled to let her know. Patricia was overjoyed to have such an amazing event to look forward to once her treatments were complete.
The week before the event Patricia received a package that included all the basic details of the event. She was so excited that she went out and bought new dress just for the occasion☺
The morning of February 14th, Valentines Day, Patricia and her husband were dropped off at the airport by their son Mike and were now on their way to the Big Apple. Patricia and her husband had not been to New York City since their honeymoon 52 years ago.
When they arrived in NYC they were picked up in a stretch limo and taken to the Crowne Plaza hotel on Broadway Street. Upon arrival they were greeted with a basket full of chocolates, wine and Jersey Boy T-shirts. This was the first time Patricia knew she would be going to see the Jersey Boys in the front row!
In the afternoon Patricia and Stuart went on a horse carriage ride around Central Park and reminisced about when they were in NYC for their honeymoon. They got to enjoy the sunshine and sights before dinner and the show!
Dinner was at Sardi’s restaurant which is in the heart of New York’s Theater District, Sardi’s has been the toast of Broadway for 90 years. Patricia enjoyed the amazing food, great drinks and good laughs.
After dinner Patricia and her husband were escorted to the Jersey Boy Theatre where they watched the Broadway Play in the Front Row! Patricia had a smile on her face from ear to ear and was so happy to have been chosen for the experience.
